Bandits:They Reduced The Ransom To 3M,They Said They Need Cash & They Don’t Accept Transfers-Adewale
According to a video shared by News Central TV, Itunu Adewale, the elder brother of one of the victims kidnapped in Imo State, said the family is continuing efforts to secure the release of those still being held by the bandits after the ransom demand was reduced to N3 million.
Adewale said the kidnappers had communicated a new ransom amount to the family and insisted that the money must be provided in cash. He explained that the bandits rejected bank transfers and other forms of electronic payment, leaving the family with the task of raising the money and arranging for it to be delivered physically.
The reduction in the ransom has given the family a specific amount to work towards, but Adewale indicated that the payment condition remains a major part of the situation. The family is still trying to gather the required funds while dealing with the demands made by the kidnappers.
According to Adewale, the family has remained focused on finding a way to meet the latest demand and secure the victims’ release. He said the family is currently working on the matter and trying to raise the N3 million requested by the bandits.
“The bandits reduced the ransom to ₦3 million. They said we have to pay it by force. They said they need cash and they don’t accept transfers or anything like that. We are on it now,” Adewale said.
The development comes as the affected family continues to seek a way to bring the kidnapping situation to an end. The demand for cash has added another practical difficulty because the family cannot simply transfer the money to an account. Instead, they have to raise the requested amount and comply with the payment condition communicated by the kidnappers.
Adewale’s update shows that negotiations over the victims’ release are still ongoing. While the reduction in the ransom amount may have made the financial target more manageable for the family, they still face the challenge of securing the funds and meeting the conditions set by the bandits.
The family is therefore continuing its efforts to raise the N3 million, with the hope that meeting the latest demand will help secure the release of the victims who remain in captivity.
