Atiku Will Work With Obi When He Knows That Obi Cannot Win And Obi Knows Atiku Cannot Win—Oluwajana

Bankole Oluwajana, a one-time National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the All Progressives Congress, has dismissed the opposition’s push for a single presidential candidate, saying it cannot work because the figures behind it are driven mainly by personal ambition.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Thursday, October 8, 2026, while answering questions on the 2027 election, the politician said opposition figures such as Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have repeatedly switched parties to chase power.

He described such figures as people of ambition who look at no other interest, noting that Atiku has changed to virtually every party available except the one belonging to Omoyele Sowore, and Obi has jumped between parties too.

Dismissing the idea of a joint ticket as a sign of weakness rather than strength among rivals, he stated, “Atiku will work with Obi when he knows that Obi cannot win, and Obi knows that Atiku cannot win.”

The APC chieftain added that any such alliance would amount to an open admission of failure, since the candidates would merely be dividing up among themselves the total number of Nigerians who are opposed to President Bola Tinubu.

He also questioned the opposition’s continued reliance on the alleged case against Tinubu in the United States, asking whether it was not already raised in 2023 and whether Americans will be casting the votes in Nigeria’s forthcoming election.

In his concluding remarks, the APC chieftain firmly maintained that anything done in envy and anger cannot succeed, insisting that the opposition is simply telling Nigerians nothing it did not already say ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
