A 30 Year Old SA Woman Died After Allegedly Been Stabbed By Her Teen Foreign Boyfriend

A 30-year-old woman from Mohlakeng, near Randfontein in Gauteng, has died after allegedly being stabbed by her boyfriend in an incident that has left her family devastated.

Lerato Itumeleng was reportedly attacked on 1 August 2026. According to her family, she sustained serious injuries during the alleged incident and later died from complications related to those injuries. Her death has left relatives struggling to come to terms with the loss of a woman they say still had much of her life ahead of her.

Her boyfriend was arrested following the incident and appeared in connection with the case. He has since been released on bail while the legal process continues. The allegations against him have not been proven in court, and he remains entitled to due process as the case is considered by the justice system.

The circumstances surrounding Itumeleng’s death have been particularly painful for her family because of the time that passed between the alleged attack and her death. Her loved ones were also faced with the emotional difficulty of marking what would have been her 30th birthday on 30 September. She was reportedly still alive on that date, but her family was dealing with the serious consequences of the injuries she had suffered weeks earlier.

Itumeleng leaves behind a three-year-old son, who must now grow up without his mother. Her grandmother and two brothers are also mourning her death and are calling for the matter to receive proper attention from the authorities.

The family wants the investigation to establish exactly what happened and for the case to be handled fairly through the courts. They have also appealed to anyone who may have information about the alleged attack or the circumstances surrounding Itumeleng’s death to assist the investigation.

While the family is seeking justice, the final facts of the case will have to be determined through the legal process. The charges against Itumeleng’s boyfriend remain allegations at this stage, and the court will ultimately consider the evidence before reaching any final decision.

Her death has also brought renewed attention to the wider problem of violence against women in South Africa. Cases involving alleged attacks by intimate partners are particularly painful for families because the accused is often someone the victim knew and trusted.

For Itumeleng’s relatives, however, the issue is deeply personal. They are grieving the loss of a daughter, sister, granddaughter and mother whose life was cut short. As the case continues, they hope the investigation will provide clear answers and that the circumstances surrounding her death will be fully examined. Above all, they want her memory to be preserved and for her young son and other family members to eventually have answers about what happened to her.
