2 police officers were arrested, after they allegedly raped a guy they found on the side of the road

Two South African Police Service officers have been arrested and remain in custody over serious allegations of rape and assault involving a member of the public. According to the report published by Truth Panther, the incident allegedly happened after the victim was walking along Rosedale Street and was approached by two police officers travelling in a SAPS service vehicle.

The officers are accused of taking the victim with them before allegedly assaulting him, spraying him with pepper spray and sodomising him with a sharp weapon.

The victim was reportedly abandoned in an unknown area and was forced to find his own way back home. He later reported the matter to authorities, prompting an investigation and a manhunt for the officers allegedly involved.

Two SAPS members, aged 42 and 41, were subsequently arrested in connection with the allegations.

The officers are currently being held in custody and are expected to appear in court, where the allegations against them will be formally addressed. The circumstances that allegedly led to the incident have not yet been established.

The case has also raised concerns because the suspects are police officers, whose duties include protecting members of the public. However, the allegations remain just that until tested in court, and the accused officers are entitled to due process.

As the investigation continues, more information is expected to emerge about what happened before, during and after the alleged incident.

What do you think should happen when police officers are accused of such serious offences against members of the public?
