Tucson woman found guilty of preparing false tax returns

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Tucson woman was found guilty of preparing false federal income tax returns for clients on Monday, Oct. 5.

The Department of Justice said 68-year-old Darlene Musgrove was convicted on 22 counts and will be sentenced on Feb. 23, 2027.

The DOJ said a dozen of Musgrove’s clients testified that they did not know Musgrove was filing the false returns so they would get larger returns.

The DOJ claimed Musgrove did it to get more business.

The clients got more than $127,000 more in returns than they should have.

Musgrove faces up to three years in federal prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
