PHOTOS: Inside Chivayo’s Gletwin Home as Preparations Begin for His Final Journey

Preparations are underway at the Chivayo family home in Gletwin, Harare, ahead of the arrival of the remains of late businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke.

According to reports from ZBC News, the couple will lie in state at the family residence this Wednesday. Scenes from the home show relatives, friends and workers making arrangements to receive the remains and the many mourners expected to pay their last respects.

The couple will then be laid to rest at Glen Forest Memorial Park on Thursday. The burial is expected to draw a large gathering of family members, business associates, political figures and ordinary citizens who followed the life and career of the well known businessman.

Wicknell Chivayo was one of the most talked about entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe, known for his bold public image, lavish lifestyle and generous gestures.

His death, together with that of his wife, has shocked many people in Zimbabwe and beyond. Across social media, Zimbabweans and Kenyans have joined in mourning the fallen tycoon, sharing tributes and memories of his influence.

Earlier funeral proceedings have already drawn attention. Mourners were seen wearing white robes to pay their last respects, while his former wife, Sonja, delivered an emotional speech that moved many attendees to tears. A convoy of black cars at the ceremony also turned heads.

The lying in state at Gletwin will give the public and loved ones a final opportunity to say goodbye to the couple in the place they called home. Security and funeral officials are expected to manage the movement of mourners to ensure the programme runs smoothly.

For the Chivayo family, the coming days will be filled with grief as they bid farewell to two loved ones at the same time. As the nation prepares for the burial on Thursday, tributes continue to pour in, reflecting the impact the couple had on those who knew them and on the wider community.
