Orengo Spends Night at Late Raila’s Home, Set to Receive Ruto For Key Event Tomorrow

Siaya Governor James Orengo spent the evening at the home of late Raila Odinga as he prepared to host President William Ruto at a key event in Siaya tomorrow.

Orengo met Raila’s widow, Dr Ida Odinga, at Opoda Farm before proceeding to Kang’o ka Jaramogi for a final walkthrough ahead of the ceremony.

The governor shared the update on social media, saying he was honoured to host the official handover of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum in Siaya.

He also posted photographs from his meeting with Ida and the evening walkthrough at Kang’o ka Jaramogi.

The images showed Orengo seated with Ida during their meeting at Opoda Farm. Other photographs showed him walking around Kang’o ka Jaramogi with a group of people involved in the preparations.

The final inspection took place at night as the team checked the site ahead of the expected ceremony.

The mausoleum is dedicated to Raila, who remained one of Kenya’s most prominent political figures during his long career.

Raila was also closely associated with Siaya, where his family has strong roots and where he maintained a significant political following.

Orengo said the official handover of the mausoleum would take place tomorrow, with the governor expected to host Ruto during the event.

The president’s planned visit is expected to bring together leaders and residents as preparations for the ceremony conclude.

Orengo’s meeting with Ida and the final walkthrough came as the county put the last arrangements in place for the occasion.

The preparations continued into the evening as the governor and others inspected the site.

Orengo ended his message by welcoming people to Siaya, signalling that preparations for the handover had reached the final stage.

Attention will now turn to tomorrow’s ceremony, where Orengo is set to receive Ruto for the official handover of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum.
