OBJ Said He’ll Retire Me From Politics, People Shouted No So In Anger He Flung The Mic To The MC—Obi

Senator Ben Obi has stated that in 2006 then Governor Peter Obi invited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to Anambra, and he received Obasanjo from his vehicle

In an interview with Symfoni TV, Obi stated that Obasanjo took a microphone and publicly stated that he would end his (Ben Obi) political career. He said the crowd immediately expressed disapproval of Obasanjo’s statement by shouting “no.”

Obi stated that Obasanjo became angry, threw the microphone back to the master of ceremonies and returned to his vehicle. He said Peter Obi went to Obasanjo and reminded him that he had not greeted traditional rulers and other important Anambra dignitaries who were there to welcome him. He said Obasanjo then came out and greeted them.

In Obi’s words: “Obasanjo said ‘You must complete this job in 6 months because I want to retire this man from politics’ that is me in Awka. The people shouted no, so out of anger he flung the microphone back to the MC and bounced back to the car”
