Liberating 25 Crore People From Extreme Poverty Greatest Achievement of PM Modi’s Leadership: VP Radhakrishnan
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday extended greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, describing the claimed reduction in extreme poverty among 25 crore people as the “greatest achievement” of his leadership.
In a post on X, Radhakrishnan said Modi’s journey as “Pradhan Sevak” had transformed the vision of inclusive development into a nationwide mission guided by the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas”.
“Heartiest greetings and warm wishes to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on completing 25 years of service to the Nation as Head of Government,” the Vice President said.
Radhakrishnan said his visits to various states and Union Territories had given him an opportunity to witness changes in connectivity, digital development, expanding opportunities and inclusive development.
“The greatest achievement of your visionary leadership is liberating 25 crore people from extreme poverty. It is a landmark historical achievement that human history can never forget,” he said.
The Vice President also wished Modi good health, happiness and strength as he continues to serve the country towards the goal of an inclusive, prosperous and “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
Modi completes 25 years of uninterrupted service as head of government on Wednesday. His tenure began on October 7, 2001, when he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister. He remained in the post until 2014, when he moved to national politics and became Prime Minister.
Modi assumed the Gujarat Chief Minister’s office in 2001, succeeding Keshubhai Patel, at a time when the state was dealing with the aftermath of the devastating Bhuj earthquake as well as political and administrative challenges.
As Prime Minister, Modi has led three successive governments and his tenure has included an increased focus on India’s international engagement, including stronger ties with major global powers and a more prominent role for the country in the Global South.
