Lahore High Court bans arrests from court premises
LAHORE : The Lahore High Court (LHC) has once again directed that accused persons should not be arrested or detained from court premises, with the court’s registrar issuing a letter to the Punjab inspector general of police in this regard.
The latest instructions reiterate an earlier restriction on arresting or detaining accused individuals while they are within court premises.
The registrar of the Lahore High Court has formally communicated the instructions to the IGP, emphasizing that accused persons should not be arrested from court premises.
The letter notes that there was already a ban on the arrest or detention of accused persons from court premises. The instructions have now been issued again to ensure compliance with the restriction.
The registrar has asked the IGP to issue clear instructions to all subordinate police officers in this regard.
The move is intended to ensure that the court premises remain protected from arrests or detentions of accused persons and that police officers under the Punjab police command follow the latest directions.
