Karungo Wa Thangwa Alleges How Ruto Plans To Use The Ebola Outbreak To His Advantage

Politician Karungo wa Thangwa has made a serious claim about the first Ebola case reported in Kenya, alleging that the outbreak is part of a plan by President William Ruto. In a post on X, he laid out what he called Kasongo’s plan in several steps.

According to Karungo, step one was to introduce Ebola to Kenya through the Laikipia quarantine. Step two was to announce the first Ebola case and patient in the country. Step three, he alleged, is to start a lockdown and ban all political gatherings and foreign flights. He said steps one and two have already been carried out, and he ended the post at step four without saying what it would be, leaving readers to guess.

He did not provide any evidence for the claims. Nothing has been presented to show that the government had a hand in bringing the disease into the country, and the post is best read as a political allegation from a critic of the administration.

Reports so far say the patient travelled from Entebbe and landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Jambojet flight JM 8523. Authorities and the airline are tracing 23 passengers and 4 crew members who were on the flight, in line with the usual response to a suspected case.

The post follows a similar claim by Ndindi Nyoro, who alleged that the president wanted to benefit from money given by the United States to fight the disease. Government supporters have dismissed both remarks as reckless.

Reactions online were divided. Some Kenyans said the public has reason to be suspicious after past scandals involving emergency funds. Others urged people to follow guidance from health officials and avoid spreading unverified stories that could cause panic during an outbreak.
