Jeremy Clarkson’s new show will merge his passion for motoring and farming as plans for his one off special about GROWING a car are revealed

Jeremy Clarkson’s plans for his new show have been announced as it is revealed it will combine his two biggest loves – motoring and farming.

A TV experiment will see the presenter, 66, ‘grow a car’ based on a Jaguar F-Type in a new Prime Video project called Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special.

The documentary will involve creating materials for a car only using produce from his Diddly Squat farm, which is featured on his beloved series, Clarkson’s Farm.

Sharing the news of the show on Wednesday, Prime Video said: ‘Frustrated by modern motoring’s endless beeps, bongs and nanny-state technology, Jeremy has decided that if he wants a ‘new’ car, he won’t buy one – he’ll build one.

‘The base for his grand plan is the Jaguar F-Type V6S, a car he believes represents the sweet spot between analogue driving thrill and modern practicality. But this is no ordinary restoration job.

‘Alongside his very own Diddly leather interior and wool carpets, Jeremy will attempt to grow a crop of flax fibre and turn it into a revolutionary flax-composite – a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre already catching the attention of major car marques.’

Jeremy will be assisted by car designer Ian Callum CBE, who is the founder of design and engineering firm CALLUM. He created the design for the original F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish.

The streaming giant revealed that the show will air on Prime Video in 2027 and confirmed that the new series of Clarkson’s Farm will also be released next year.

Jeremy recently spoke about the difficulty of farming in the current climate when he made a surprise appearance at the Tory conference last week.

He hammered Labour for blighting farming and business as he gave a grim assessment of the challenges facing the industry on stage in Birmingham.

Interviewed by shadow environment secretary Victoria Atkins, Jeremy said ministers had failed to understand how the botched inheritance tax raid would hit family farms.

Jeremy revealed that he is considering opening another pub, but added that it would not be in Britain.

‘Why would anybody set up a business in this country right now?’ he said in a brutal swipe.

Jeremy also disclosed that Environment Secretary Angela Eagle had postponed a meeting with his land agent Charlie Ireland three times. And he had a dig at ‘low IQ’ planning officers for meddling in what farmers could do on their own land.

The former Top Gear host said this year had been extremely difficult on his Oxfordshire farm and the harvest only resulted in ‘three ounces of hen food’.

He said he was hoping that the weather might not be as hot in 2027 but pointed out that he was lucky to have other sources of income.

‘Not every farmer has a quiz show to host on ITV…’ he joked.

Jeremy, who also presents Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on ITV, spoke alongside Mr Ireland, who features on his Amazon Prime show.

He said: ‘We worked really hard all year and we ended up with, I think I’m right in saying, three ounces of hen food.

‘It was an absolute disaster on the farming side but, I mean, luckily we’ve got other projects going on now. But the farming is very, very difficult, very, very difficult at the moment.’

He also mentioned rising costs for the pub he runs, near his farm in the Cotswolds.

Jeremy said: ‘I’m very fortunate that I do have other income streams and newspaper columns, but if you’re an ordinary farmer, it’s not just the weather.

‘Remember, it’s as Charlie was saying, the attacks come from everywhere – whether it’s Iran or Ukraine or taxes or energy costs – whatever it might be, it’s just relentless.’

He revealed during the last season of his show that he was having treatment for prostate cancer.

Jeremy bought the then Curdle Hill Farm, which sits within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, nearly 20 years ago.

After deciding to run the farm himself in 2019, he renamed it the Diddly Squat Farm over its lack of productivity.

He then opened a restaurant on the site – allegedly without planning permission – but it was later shut down by West Oxfordshire District Council.

Two years ago Jeremy opened the Farmers’ Dog pub, formerly known as The Windmill, at Asthall, near Burford, which sells produce grown or reared by British farmers.

He has become a vocal supporter of farmers and attended a protest in London against the Government’s move to introduce inheritance tax on farmland in November 2024.
