“First Time In Npp’s History” — Ken Agyapong Makes Bold Popularity Claim

Kennedy Agyapong has made a strong claim about his popularity and support within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party prepares for its 2028 political battle.

The former Assin Central MP and presidential aspirant has continued to present himself as a politician with strong grassroots support. His supporters argue that his connection with ordinary party members is one of his biggest political strengths.

Agyapong’s campaign has repeatedly highlighted his ability to attract large crowds and connect directly with party members. His nationwide Unity Tour also took him across constituencies as he sought to strengthen his grassroots presence ahead of the 2028 elections.

The latest claim has sparked fresh discussion among NPP supporters. Agyapong is reported to have described the level of support surrounding his political campaign as something unprecedented in the party’s history.

His message comes as questions continue about what makes a presidential aspirant popular within the NPP. One of his campaign officials, Charles Bissue, has argued that Agyapong’s popularity is based on his ability to attract ordinary supporters rather than simply relying on political structures.

However, the claim remains a political assertion and should be separated from measured polling or election results. Previous surveys and analyses have produced different pictures of Agyapong’s support.

Agyapong’s supporters believe his grassroots appeal gives him a unique position within the NPP. Critics, however, have questioned whether personal popularity among supporters automatically translates into victory in the party’s delegate-based contests.

The debate over Agyapong’s popularity is therefore expected to remain a major issue as the NPP moves toward its 2028 presidential contest.
