COAS Munir reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to int’l peace

The Field Marshal highlighted Pakistan's contributions to UN peacekeeping missions

RAWALPINDI — Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to international peace.

He was speaking during a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who called on him in Rawalpindi today.

The Field Marshal highlighted Pakistan's contributions to UN peacekeeping missions.

He lauded the role of the United Nations under the leadership of Secretary-General António Guterres in advancing peace, stability and humanitarian cooperation.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional security environment and the United Nations' role in promoting international peace and security were discussed.

Both sides exchanged views on regional stability, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, India's holding in abeyance of the Indus Waters Treaty and terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

The UN Secretary-General paid tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of Pakistan and its Armed Forces in the war against terror and in UN peacekeeping missions.

He also acknowledged Pakistan's continued commitment to international peace and security and specifically appreciated Pakistan's efforts towards the peaceful resolution of regional conflicts.
