For the week ending Sunday, October 3rd, 2026, ⦠Lytle P.D. officers handled 58 calls for service and conducted 44 traffic stops. Of those stops, 16 resulted in citations, and 28 were warnings.
There were two property crimes reported last week. #1 ā A 2005 Ford F-250 was stolen from the parking lot at Lytle State Bank. The theft occurred overnight. #2 ā A complainant reported that a toolbox was taken from the back of his truck while he was parked at South Texas Hardware.
There were two arrests made last week. #1 ā A traffic stop on N. Prairie St. resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old male for D.W.I. (enhanced), resisting arrest, and unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 ā A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the ācite and releaseā of a 20-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Critical Incident: Oct. 4th, 2026 @ 10:42 AM ā 14600 Blk. of Butch Cassidy (Saddle Ridge Estates Subdivision) ā Officers responded to a disturbance. The suspect fled the scene of the initial violent disturbance and entered a random neighboring house (he had no known connection with). The suspect cornered the resident in his bedroom, and the resident used deadly force (a firearm) to protect his family and himself. The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation. The deceased suspect was a 36-year-old male. We were also assisted by the Atascosa County Sheriffās Office, Atascosa County EMS, Medina County EMS, and Lytle Fire Rescue.
In situations like this, I feel very fortunate that we have a devoted, well-trained team of public safety professionals serving this community.
