BREAKING: Woman Who Raped Her Neighbor’s Daughter in KZN Has Been Found Guilty And Jailed

The Umzimkhulu Regional Court in KwaZulu-Natal has handed down lengthy prison sentences to three offenders convicted in separate rape cases involving women and children.

In one case, a 19-year-old woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of raping her nine-year-old neighbour in the Ibisi area. Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the teenager allegedly called the child into her room, instructed her to undress and sexually assaulted her with her fingers.

In another case, 33-year-old Tenes Hassan received six life sentences after being convicted of raping six women in Umzimkhulu between January and December 2022. Investigators said he targeted homes where women were alone or with their children, allegedly breaking in, demanding valuables and subsequently attacking the victims. DNA evidence helped detectives link him to all six cases. He also received an additional eight-year sentence for housebreaking.

The court further sentenced a 45-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his five-year-old niece in the Gowan Lea policing area on 28 December 2025.

Police welcomed the convictions, praising detectives from the Kokstad Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for their investigations.

All three offenders will also be listed on South Africa’s National Register for Sex Offenders.
