Bitcoin falls under $84K as oil jumps

Add ARY News on GoogleFollow on Google Discoverimage credit= CryptoRankAAResizeSINGAPORE / NEW YORK – October 7, 2026 – Cryptocurrency markets experienced significant liquidations on Wednesday following increased geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, causing a stir in global macro markets. Bitcoin (BTC) trended lower below the support at $84,000 and hit an intraday low at $83,840 before recovering to around $84,200- down 1.5% during the last 24 hours.

The sell-off came as global oil prices spiked after Tehran announced it had attacked commercial oil ships off the Strait of Hormuz. Brent futures jumped over $101.50 a barrel, sparking inflation fears and provoking a generalized “risk-off” rush to traditional safe-havens such as the U.S. dollar.

Bloomberg News The chaos in an important shipping route hit markets worldwide this week. The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries rose to as much as 5.31%, dragging digital currencies and Asian stocks along with it, despite major benchmarks in the U.S. staying close to all-time highs.

Bond yields are higher and energy costs are rising – these are normally signs of tightening financial conditions. This would reduce the demand from investors for more speculative investments such as cryptos.

“When energy markets get supply shocks, the capital was moving temporarily from liquidity sensitive assets like crypto and back to the defensive positions of cash and treasuries,” said strategists observing macro flows.

Bitcoin’s pullback was more modest compared to other digital assets that suffered more substantial pullbacks: Dogecoin (DOGE): Crashed –4.98%; in top ten biggest crypto losers. XRP: Fell 2.56% within 24 hours. Ethereum (ETH) & Hyperliquid: Fell by 3 to 5%.

As per derivative tracking info from Coinglass, the sudden decline erased over $487 million of bullish longs from crypto exchanges worldwide over a 24-hour period, signifying a further loss of momentum in the market.

But according to market analysts, Bitcoin is close to reaching an important point of indecision. “Back below $84K, and it looks like sellers are calling the short-term shots,” the FxPro financial brokerage said.

Should this selling pressure remain and Bitcoin falls below the support floor at $83,000, then technical models call for a rapid move toward the $80,000 zone.
