There Was No Distress Call From The Pilots, The Next Thing Was The Story About The Air Crash- Usman

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, former Nigerian Army spokesman Brigadier General Sani Usman (retd.) spoke about the military aircraft carrying 32 people that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, while travelling from Benin to Lagos, explaining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Usman said there was no distress call from the pilots before the aircraft went off air, adding that the next information received was the report of the air crash, which made it necessary for authorities to confirm the incident and determine what had happened.

He explained that the response also required mobilisation to the crash site involving the Air Force, other services and emergency responders, stressing the need for the relevant personnel to reach the location and respond to the situation.

In Usman’s words: “There was no distress call from the pilots. It went off air. The next thing was the story about the air crash. So you can understand the circumstances. First, there was the issue of confirmation, mobilisation to the site by the Air Force and other services, as well as emergency responders to the site.”
