Pinterest unveils AI-powered beauty guides to simplify salon visits

Pinterest has introduced a new AI-powered feature called “Beauty Guides” to help users turn beauty inspiration Pins into practical plans for salon visits, 24NewsHD TV reported.

The feature uses Pinterest’s visual intelligence and generative AI technology, known as Pinterest Intelligence, to explain beauty terms that users may not be familiar with, including “balayage,” “root melt” and “almond nails.”

According to TechCrunch, the feature allows users to use saved beauty-related Pins, including hairstyle, hair-colour and nail ideas, as guides when discussing their preferred looks with salon professionals.

The guides appear when users tap the “Get the Guide” button in the Pinterest app. They provide information on what users should ask for to achieve a particular style, along with the estimated time, price range and maintenance requirements.

The guides can also explain how often hair may need to be trimmed, toned or touched up to maintain the desired look.

At launch, the feature will cover Pins related to hairstyles, hair colours, nail shapes and nail finishes.

Pinterest said the feature is designed to make salon visits easier by giving users the right terminology and practical details to clearly communicate their preferred look to hairstylists and nail artists.
