Pileup proposal: Man proposes to girlfriend during 69-vehicle pileup in South Carolina

A Philadelphia man involved in a massive 69-car pileup in South Carolina decided to propose to his girlfriend in the middle of the chaos.

The crash happened Thursday morning on the Santee Bridge over Lake Marion on Interstate 95 in Clarendon County, South Carolina, sister station WYFF reported.

SCDOTOfficials said approximately 92 vehicles were on the bridge, with 69 involved in the collision. At least two vehicles had people trapped inside.

WIS-TVNo better time for a proposal The Medical University of South Carolina staff said Kevin Cossa and Meghan Quinn were traveling south from Philadelphia on vacation when they were caught in the crash.

With traffic stopped and uncertainty all around them, Kevin decided there was no reason to wait for the perfect moment.

MUSC Health"Honestly, at that point in time, with so much confusion and everything going on, [I] didn't even know what tomorrow meant," Kevin said.

So, right there on the bridge, he asked Meghan to marry him.

The couple was later treated at MUSC Health Orangeburg, where the care team there learned about their special moment.

"We’re grateful Kevin and Meghan are doing well and wish them safe travels, a happy engagement and many years of happiness together," a social media post said.
