NYSC Kidnap: My Son Hid A Phone In His Trouser To Send Me A Text Message –Janet Oladosu

According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Janet Oladosu, a 55-year-old mother, has appealed to the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of her son, Greatness, and 19 other prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps who were abducted while travelling to their respective orientation camps.

Oladosu made the appeal following a recent message she received from her son, who was among the prospective corps members reportedly kidnapped during their journey.

She expressed concern over the safety and wellbeing of the victims, urging the authorities to act swiftly to ensure their freedom.

Speaking with Vanguard yesterday, the mother called on the Federal Government to give the rescue operation urgent attention.

She also appealed to the Oyo and Imo State governments to work closely with relevant security agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted prospective corps members.

According to Oladosu, the situation has caused serious distress for families whose children were on their way to begin the mandatory national service programme.

She stressed that the victims should not be left in captivity and urged the authorities to intensify efforts to locate them.

The 55-year-old mother said the latest communication she received from Greatness provided some insight into how he managed to reach her despite the dangerous circumstances surrounding the abduction.

She said the message heightened her fears about the condition of her son and the other victims.

Oladosu explained that her son had managed to conceal a mobile phone on his person, using the opportunity to secretly contact her.

She said the message indicated that he was uncertain about what could happen to him and the other prospective corps members in captivity.

“He wrote: ‘Mummy, I don’t know what will happen to us. I hid this phone in my trouser to send a text to you,’” she recalled.
