A report released in January 2022, by renowned global charity organization Oxfam International revealed the five richest people in the country, with Sameer Merali, son to late business mogul Dr. Naushad Noorali Merali topping the list. According to the report by Oxfam, Sameer Merali was estimated to be worth $790 million (Ksh89.6 billion).

Following his father’s death, Sameer, a Masters graduate in Banking and International Finance took over the running of the family’s business empire.

Right now, Sameer Merali is the richest person in Kenya. Sameer is the son of the late rich businessman, Dr Naushad Noorali Merali.According to a report from Nairobi Leo, Sameer Merali’s money and assets are worth about $790 million.

Sharing his father’s business acumen, Sameer has also invested in manufacturing, telecommunications, banking, real estate as well as agriculture.

Sameer holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Sciences from Kings College based in London. Upon graduation, Sameer advanced his studies by pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Banking and International Finance from City University Business School, London.

The businessman was later employed at Merril Lynch International Bank Limited in October 2000, where he worked as an Investment Analyst.
