Kennedy Agyapong Exposes The NPP Administration for Employing University Graduates Without Salaries

Kennedy Agyapong has criticised the alleged treatment of university graduates employed under government initiatives during the previous NPP government, bringing the issue back into Ghana’s political debate.

At a community gathering, Agyapong said some graduates from Ejisu and another constituency had approached him with complaints about their working conditions.

He alleged that certain graduates received only GHS700 monthly, while some reportedly remained unpaid for up to seven months.

He described the reported situation as unacceptable and said irregular payments placed young professionals under unnecessary financial pressure.

Agyapong argued that graduates who had invested years in tertiary education deserved more reliable employment and income.

He called for a review of government policies on graduate employment, saying young people should be given sustainable opportunities that allow them to build secure careers.

Agyapong also promised that, if he becomes the NPP’s presidential candidate and wins the general election, his administration would focus on creating permanent employment opportunities for graduates.

He said the aim would be to reduce reliance on temporary programmes and provide young professionals with greater job security.

The remarks have drawn both support and criticism. Some NPP supporters view Agyapong’s comments as an honest attempt to address problems within the party’s previous administration, while his critics believe he is using the issue to gain political advantage.

His statements have nevertheless renewed attention on youth unemployment, graduate welfare and government accountability, particularly as the NPP moves closer to choosing its candidate for the next presidential election.
