Katie Price and MP Suella Braverman to be handcuffed together for new reality show
A celebrity version of Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing is on its way and its got some very interesting participants
Katie Price and Reform UK MP Suella Braverman will be handcuffed together for a celebrity version of the hit reality show Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing.
For those who didn’t watch it when it aired, the reality show saw strangers with strongly opposing views handcuffed together 24/7 for the chance to win a £100,000 cash prize.
While the money was a strong incentive to tough it out, the nine pairs were pushed to the limits having to spend weeks cuffed to a complete stranger who had very different views, beliefs and lifestyles.
The show, which Channel 4 dubbed a ‘social experiment’, saw the pairs having to do everything from sleeping, eating, and even showering together – all while juggling with their differences.
Now Channel 4 has confirmed that there’s a celebrity edition on the way, titled Celebrity Handcuffed, which will see a bunch of famous faces cuffed to one another as they compete to be crowned the winners.
In-keeping with the original format, it seems as though the hand-picked team of diverse celebrities will share plenty of differing opinions and ideals.
Among them is former glamour model and tabloid favourite Price will find herself paired with Braverman, and we can only imagine what those conversations are going to entail.
Other duos appearing on the show include Love Island star turned campaigner Georgia Harrison who will be paired with model Lady Victoria Hervey, and former footballer Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock who will be handcuffed to drag queen Bimini.
Jonathan Ross, who hosted the civilian version said: “I loved being part of the civilian series of Handcuffed, and I can’t wait to see how the celebrity version pans out.
“I’ve done my fair share of celebrity shows, but nothing quite like this.
“It’s chaotic, it’s hilarious, and I’m so excited for viewers to see what happens when you handcuff a group of famous faces together and put them under pressure.”
Rounding off the celebrity pairings are ultra-posh Made In Chelsea’s Mark-Francis Vandelli and former Atomic Kitten singer – and Price’s pal – Kerry Katona, as well as celebrity DJ Fat Tony and Princess Olga Romanoff.
Tim Hancock, commissioning editor at Channel 4, said: “Celebrity Handcuffed takes a format audiences couldn’t stop talking about and supercharges it with some truly unexpected pairings.
“Just like the civilian series, the celebrity version will be laugh-out-loud funny, gloriously awkward and full of surprises, and will capture something bigger about modern Britain: even when we seem to disagree on almost everything, we might have more in common than we think.”
The new series, which will air next year, is created by 72 Films and will aim to answer what happens when ‘big egos collide’.
Amy Willetts, series producer at 72 Films said, “Bringing together celebrities from wildly different worlds, Celebrity Handcuffed asks what happens when big egos collide.
“At its heart, it’s a celebration of friendship and tolerance, giving viewers a fresh look and understanding of the famous faces they thought they knew.
“But for those who crack under the pressure, expect fireworks.”
