Qasim taken into custody while attempting to meet Imran Khan

Qasim Zaman, a cousin of PTI founder Imran Khan, has been taken into custody in Rawalpindi after arriving at the Gorakhpur checkpoint to meet the incarcerated former prime minister.

According to the report, Zaman was detained at the checkpoint and subsequently transferred to the Adiala police post. The development comes amid concerns raised over Imran Khan’s reported health and efforts by his family to secure an urgent meeting with him.

Meanwhile, a formal request has been submitted to the superintendent of Adiala Jail seeking an urgent meeting with Imran Khan.

The request states that information regarding Imran Khan’s health, described in the application as serious and requiring immediate attention, was received from members of the government’s negotiating committee.

The applicants said an immediate meeting is necessary to ascertain the PTI founder’s health, safety and well-being.

According to the request, reports indicated a critical spike in Imran Khan’s blood pressure. The application said the information was confirmed by members of the government’s negotiating committee, including Rana Sanaullah, Naveed Qamar and Aijaz Jakhrani.

The request argues that the reported health concerns cannot be overlooked and that direct access to Imran Khan is essential to establish his current condition and ensure his well-being.

Zaman was reportedly attempting to reach Imran Khan at Adiala Jail when he was detained at the Gorakhpur checkpoint. His transfer to the Adiala police post comes as the PTI founder’s family and associates continue seeking access to him. Previous reporting has also documented restrictions affecting family members and others attempting to reach Adiala Jail for meetings with Khan.
