Guru Ram Das Ji’s Parkash Gurpurab on Oct 27; Nagar Kirtan to Begin From Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Oct 26
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Amritsar district administration on Tuesday held a joint meeting with civil and police officials to review arrangements for the Parkash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji, the founder of Amritsar.
The Parkash Gurpurab will be observed at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib on October 27, while a Nagar Kirtan will be organised on October 26, beginning from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and passing through the historic gates of Amritsar before concluding at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The meeting was attended by SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, Sri Darbar Sahib Manager Major Singh, Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill, SDM Gurminder Singh, Joint Municipal Commissioner Jaiinder Singh, DCP Ravinderpal Singh and ADCP Amandeep Kaur, among other officials.
During the meeting, arrangements concerning cleanliness on routes leading to Sri Darbar Sahib, sanitation across the holy city, traffic management and other key issues were discussed.
Kulwant Singh Mannan said the Parkash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji, who founded the historic city of Amritsar, would be observed on October 27. He said the annual Nagar Kirtan on October 26 would pass through the old city gates before returning to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Mannan said maintaining the cleanliness of the historic city established by Guru Ram Das Ji was a collective responsibility. He expressed confidence that the district administration would extend the necessary cooperation, as it has done in previous years, to ensure that the celebrations are organised smoothly and memorably.
Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill assured the SGPC that the administration would discharge all responsibilities assigned to it with dedication and extend full cooperation at every level.
SGPC Manager Narinder Singh, Rajinder Singh Ruby Attari, Additional Manager Gurpreet Singh, Gurwinder Singh Bhoma and Information Officer Amritpal Singh were among those present at the meeting, along with officials from other departments.
