Gladys Wanga Issues Update on Oburu’s Health After Visiting Him at Nairobi Hospital

Homa Bay Governor and ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga has given a fresh update on the health of ODM leader Oburu Oginga following growing concern about his condition.

Wanga said she visited Oburu on Tuesday evening, October 6, and found him recovering steadily and in high spirits.

“My PL Dr Oburu is recovering steadily. I was with him this evening and he is in high spirits. We continue to pray for his full recovery,” Wanga said.

Her message came hours after reports about Oburu’s health sparked widespread discussion on social media.

ODM communication director Philip Etale had earlier sought to calm the situation, saying Oburu was well after visiting Nairobi Hospital for a routine check-up. Etale said he had spoken to the ODM leader and urged Kenyans to avoid spreading unverified information about his health.

The latest update from Wanga now provides another account of Oburu’s condition as he continues to recover.

Oburu, who is also the Siaya Senator, recently returned to Kenya after travelling to the United Kingdom for medical checks. He had explained that the trip was undertaken on the advice of his doctors and also gave him time to rest.

His latest medical attention has attracted public interest because of his position as ODM party leader and his role in the country’s political affairs.

Wanga’s visit also comes at a time when ODM is preparing for activities marking the first anniversary of the death of former party leader Raila Odinga, Oburu’s younger brother.

Despite the reports surrounding his health, Wanga said Oburu remains in good spirits as he recovers.

The governor also asked Kenyans to continue praying for his full recovery.
