ESPN insider pats himself on back for prediction that Vikings’ Kyler Murray would stink
The Minnesota Vikings have been on an impressive stretch, pillaging the NFL for a 4-0 record despite their subpar offense.
The Vikings beat the Miami Dolphins, 15-10, on Sunday, even without scoring a touchdown. They also did not find the end zone in their win over the Chicago Bears, 9-3, in Week 2. Minnesota became the second franchise in league history to start at 4-0 despite having multiple games without a touchdown, joining the Chicago Cardinals, who did it in 1922 and 1923.
Kyler Murray probably is not too worried as long as they are winning. ESPN’s Dan Graziano, however, stressed that it should not be a surprise that Murray has been mediocre in his first season with the Vikings.
“Will Reichard is the only startable Viking when Justin Jefferson doesn’t play. NOT AN OVERREACTION. I won’t say I spent the whole summer wondering why everyone thought Kyler Murray was going to light up the league just because he left Arizona, but it was definitely a guy who looks and sounds a lot like me,” wrote Graziano.
The 29-year-old quarterback has thrown for 433 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in three games. He, however, played only a few minutes in Week 1 due to a concussion and completely sat out Week 2.
Murray, the No. 1 pick in 2019, signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Vikings. His arrival signaled that the team looked to move on from JJ McCarthy, who had an injury-stricken stint in Minnesota. McCarthy is now with the New York Giants after being traded for a fifth-round pick.
Murray, however, has not been as much of an upgrade from McCarthy. Fans are hoping that he will get his rhythm soon and make the Vikings even more formidable.
