CTP issues traffic plan for tri-nation cricket series at Rawalpindi stadium
Rawalpindi – City Traffic Police (CTP) on Monday issued a comprehensive traffic and diversion plan for the upcoming T20 matches of the tri-nation cricket series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (RCS), with more than 321 traffic officers and wardens to be deployed around the venue and on major arteries.
The plan was finalised by Chief Security Officer Muhammad Waseem on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam ahead of the Pakistan and Sri Lanka teams’ practice session scheduled for Tuesday (today).

According to the plan, traffic will be diverted to alternative routes for the shortest possible duration during the movement of the cricket teams to and from the stadium. Traffic personnel will also be deployed to regulate traffic, guide commuters and facilitate spectators.
Stadium Road, from the 9th Avenue intersection to Double Road Chowk, will remain completely closed to traffic in both directions during the matches.
Commuters entering Rawalpindi from 9th Avenue will be diverted through Faizabad and the Islamabad Expressway, while traffic will also be channelled onto I.J.P. Road towards Pandorian Chowk, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pirwadhai Morr and Chak Madad.

Vehicles travelling from Rawalpindi towards 9th Avenue via Double Road will be diverted through Murree Road and Faizabad before entering Islamabad.
During the movement of the teams, traffic heading towards Islamabad from Murree Road will be temporarily diverted at 6th Road. Commuters will be able to use Saidpur Road via 6th Road to enter the capital.
Traffic approaching Rawalpindi from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad onto the Islamabad Expressway, while vehicles coming from Ghousia Chowk will be diverted towards Kurri Road via Farooq-e-Azam Road.

Three designated parking areas have also been established for spectators: the Civil Aviation Ground near Shaheen Chowk, Shahbaz Sharif Park near Shaheen Chowk and the Government Graduate Degree College in Satellite Town.
CTO Farhan Aslam said real-time traffic updates and diversion advisories would be shared with the public through the CTP Rawalpindi’s official social media platforms and FM Radio 88.6 to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
He urged citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the instructions issued at diversion points, saying public cooperation was essential for maintaining smooth traffic flow and ensuring the security of the visiting teams.

Later in the day, Deputy Commissioner Captain (retired) Nadeem Nasir and City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, accompanied by other senior police officers, visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and issued directions regarding security arrangements for the matches.
