The CES also recorded 148 cases in which first aid was provided at the scene and 865 cases in which victims were shifted for further medical treatment. Meanwhile, Islamabad’s emergency response capacity is set to receive a major boost with the arrival of 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles at Karachi Port from China, with the fleet expected to reach the federal capital within five days. The vehicles have been procured for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade and represent a major expansion of the capital’s emergency fleet after a gap of 17 years.
Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi inspected the newly arrived vehicles during a visit to Karachi Port on September 29. Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sohail Ashraf was also present.

According to a briefing given to the interior minister, the new fleet comprises four aerial fire trucks, six fire towers and five fire tenders, equipped with modern rescue and firefighting equipment. The vehicles are capable of conducting operations at heights of up to 256 feet, significantly enhancing the capacity to deal with fires and other emergencies in high-rise buildings and difficult-to-access locations.
The vehicles are expected to be deployed round the clock at six stations across Islamabad, providing additional operational capacity to emergency response teams.
Mr Naqvi described the arrival of the vehicles as a welcome development and said the addition of the new fleet represented the biggest expansion of Islamabad’s Rescue fleet since 2009. He also thanked the Chinese government for expediting the supply of the vehicles. The new equipment is expected to strengthen the capital’s ability to deal with fires, road crashes, high-rise emergencies and other incidents requiring specialised rescue and firefighting capabilities.
The expansion comes as the Capital Emergency Service continues to handle a substantial emergency workload. In September alone, it responded to 1,475 emergency calls, including 1,152 medical emergencies, 123 rescue operations and 82 fire incidents. Once transferred from Karachi and formally deployed, the new vehicles will supplement the existing resources of the Capital Emergency Service and Fire Brigade, strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacity across Islamabad.
