Cement Prices Drop Again as CIMAF Adjusts Market Rates
Ghana’s construction sector has received a boost following another reduction in cement prices by CIMAF, one of the country’s major cement manufacturers.
The company’s latest prices place a 50kg bag of CIMAF Foreman at GH¢72 and CIMAF 32.5 at GH¢74. CIMAF 42.5R, a higher-strength cement commonly used for demanding construction projects, is selling for GH¢98 per bag.
The new prices could ease some of the pressure faced by contractors, property developers and individuals who have struggled with rising construction costs in recent months.
The decline in cement prices has been linked by industry observers to improved supply, stronger competition and possible reductions in production and distribution expenses.
Lower cement prices could encourage developers to restart projects that were put on hold because of high material costs. Individuals constructing homes may also benefit from reduced expenses.
If the trend continues, cheaper cement could contribute to more affordable housing and increased activity in Ghana’s construction industry.
Consumers should, however, be aware that prices may differ from one location or dealer to another because of transportation costs and profit margins. Buyers are advised to confirm the latest prices with authorised sellers before purchasing.
