Bad News for Ruto as Prominent Figure Vows to Reveal This to Kenyans Days After Dumping UDA

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has given President William Ruto 14 days to make public the agreement between the Kenyan government and Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote over the proposed Lamu refinery.

Nyoro made the demand as pressure continues to grow over the Sh2.2 trillion project, which President Ruto and Dangote launched in Lamu on September 30.

The Kiharu MP said Kenyans deserve to know the details of the investment, including the shareholders involved, the government’s commitments and how the project will be financed.

Nyoro warned that if the agreement is not released within the 14-day period, he would make it public himself.

“I want to tell William Ruto it is not a privilege Kenyans are asking for. You have to produce the register of Dangote Refinery shareholders, and you also have to give us the investment agreement,” Nyoro said.

The demand has placed the refinery project at the centre of a growing political debate over transparency and public resources.

The proposed refinery is expected to become one of Kenya’s largest industrial projects. Dangote plans to build the facility in Lamu, with the refinery expected to process up to 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The project is also expected to have a major regional role by supplying refined petroleum products to East African markets. Its shares are planned to be listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Nyoro has maintained that he supports investment in Kenya but wants the public to understand the terms of the deal.

His latest ultimatum comes as other leaders also demand details about the project’s ownership structure, government stake and financial arrangements.

For now, attention is on the 14-day deadline issued by Nyoro and whether the government will release the requested agreement.

The debate is expected to continue as construction plans move forward and Kenyans await more information about the project.
