ADC’s husband sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand over alleged assault

Rawalpindi  –  A magistrate’s court here on Monday sent the husband of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Headquarters Rawalpindi Maliha Sehar to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand for allegedly assaulting, threatening and confining his wife.

Jawad Ali was arrested by police following registration of a case against him on his wife’s complaint on October 3. The Women Police Station, Rawalpindi, registered the First Information Report (FIR) after the civil servant alleged that her husband had physically assaulted her, confined her in a room and issued life-threatening threats.

The accused was produced before the magistrate on Monday, who sent him to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

According to the FIR, police initiated proceedings after receiving the complaint from the ADC, who alleged that she had been subjected to physical violence and wrongful confinement by her husband.

Further details of the allegations and the investigation were not immediately available. The case remains under investigation.
