WSL Table After Arsenal Lost 4-2
According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 4, 2026, Arsenal Women suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Manchester City Women in their Women’s Super League clash.
Arsenal started confidently and took the lead in the 43rd minute when Lisa Baum found the back of the net. Manchester City responded before the break, with Lauren Hemp equalising in the first minute of stoppage time after being set up by Niamh Charles.
City carried their momentum into the second half, but Arsenal restored their advantage just four minutes after the restart. Alessia Russo finished well in the 49th minute to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.
Manchester City once again fought back, with Kerstin Casparij bringing the hosts level in the 63rd minute following an assist from Hemp. The equaliser gave City renewed confidence as they increased the pressure on Arsenal.
Hemp then completed her brace in the 72nd minute, with Yui Hasegawa providing the assist to give Manchester City the lead for the first time. Arsenal attempted to respond, but City remained in control and continued to threaten the Gunners’ defence.
Manchester City eventually secured the points in the 84th minute when Khadija Shaw converted after receiving an assist from Aoba Fujino. The goal gave the hosts a two-goal advantage that Arsenal could not overturn before the final whistle.
The defeat leaves Arsenal Women in 10th place in the Women’s Super League standings with five points, while Manchester City Women remain at the top of the table after another strong performance.
