When The Plane Crashed,We Went With Soldiers To Rescue The People; We’re Not Able To Do So-Eyewitness
In a video shared by TVC News Nigeria, an eyewitness recalled the moment a military aircraft carrying 32 people crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, saying he and others quickly moved to the scene after receiving information about the incident as the aircraft was travelling from Benin to Lagos.
The eyewitness said he went to the crash site alongside some soldiers and other officers with the intention of rescuing those on board, but the situation they met at the location made it impossible for them to provide assistance as the aircraft had already gone into the swamp and there was no clear way to reach or rescue anyone inside.
According to him, they were unable to carry out the rescue because of the difficult terrain and the position of the aircraft, which had entered the swamp, leaving them with no immediate means of reaching those who were on board.
In his words: “When the plane crashed, we went there to rescue the people, but when we got there, we couldn’t help anybody. There was no way to rescue anybody. We went there with some soldiers and officers, but we were not able to rescue anybody because the plane had already entered the swamp.”
