Visuals shared on social media showed a massive fire breaking out at Film City in Mumbai, with initial reports claiming that Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana set had caught fire. However, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) later clarified that the fire broke out on the Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 set. The association has demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
Tragedy struck Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana set in Mumbai. Sharing an update on the incident, a netizen tweeted, “A fire reportedly broke out on Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana set, sending a huge plume of smoke into the air and triggering panic at the location.”
However, it was later clarified that the fire was not on Ramayana sets. A tweet read, “FWICE has confirmed that the incident took place on the set of a TV serial near Prime Focus Studios, and not on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana set.
The fire reportedly erupted outside the sets of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and MTV Hustle 5. Confirming the same, AICWA penned a long note demanding serious probe into the matter.
Their tweet read, “A fire broke out around 4:00 PM today on the set of Colors channel’s reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2, built inside Prime Focus Studio at Film City, Goregaon. Thousands of workers and artists work in this complex every day, and today’s fire is yet another warning that their lives are being treated as expendable. There were no fire safety arrangements whatsoever on the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2, which is why the fire broke out and spread. A large number of workers and artists were working on a set that had been left completely unprotected.
AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta has written to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis seeking a time-bound inquiry into the fire on the Pati Patni Aur Panga set.He has also demanded an FIR against those responsible for negligence and the resignation of Film City’s managing director.
AICWA also urges the government to make fire audits, on-set fire safety staff and firefighting equipment mandatory for every shoot in Film City, with licences cancelled for any production that fails to comply.
