Tanzania Pushes for Modernization, Value Addition in Tobacco Sector

Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the tobacco sector by engaging in high-level discussions with Japan Tobacco International (JTI), a subsidiary to the Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited (TCC).The meeting took place on 3rd October 2026, on the margins of the Al Alamein Africa Business Forum in El Alamein, in Egypt, whereby Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gerald Mweli met with the Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director of JTI, Mr. Takehiko Tsutsui.
