Rob Lowe’s son John Owen shares moving message after 13-year-old cousin Fiona’s death
Rob Lowe’s youngest son, John Owen, shared a moving poem about hope after his teen cousin Fiona died by suicide.
Over the weekend, the 30-year-old took to his Instagram Stories to share Emily Dickinson’s poem “Hope Is the Thing With Feathers.”
“HOPE is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all,” the poem reads.
“And sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm,” it continues.
“I’ve heard it in the chillest land, and on the strangest sea; yet, never, in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.”
John Owen’s post came days after his little cousin Fiona passed away at the hospital last Tuesday. She was 13.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” her family shared in a statement to Page Six at the time.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” they added.
The family also urged people to reach out to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline if they are “struggling with mental health.”
Fiona was the middle child of actor Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter. The couple also shares daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Following Fiona’s death, Mabel shared a heartbreaking Instagram post about her late sister.
“I love you so much fiona ❤️ i wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now,” she wrote.
“I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much,” the teen added.
