Rain, windstorm, hailstorm forecast in upper parts of country: PMD

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm in upper parts of the country from Tuesday to Wednesday under the influence of a westerly wave. In Punjab and Islamabad, rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm is expected at isolated places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad on October 06 and 07. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm is expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan from the night of October 05-07. Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm is likely at isolated places in Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur, as well as in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar, on October 06-07.In Balochistan, mainly hot and dry weather is expected, with rain-windstorm/thunderstorm at isolated places in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel during the evening/night of October 06. Mainly hot and dry weather is likely to continue in Sindh during the coming days.The PMD cautioned that windstorms, hailstorms and lightning may damage weak structures, including roofs and walls of kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.Day temperatures are likely to drop by 02 to 04 degrees Celsius during the forecast period.The department advised farmers to plan crop-related activities in view of the expected weather conditions and urged all concerned authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
