PM Shehbaz to lay foundation stone for Kashmir Chowk underpass today

Work on the long-awaited Kashmir Chowk Underpass project has begun in Islamabad, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif scheduled to lay its foundation stone today, 24NewsHD TV reported.

A special ceremony will be held to mark the launch of the project, where Prime Minister Shehbaz and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are expected to address the gathering.

Described as another major initiative by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for residents of the twin cities, the underpass is aimed at easing traffic congestion at Kashmir Chowk, particularly for motorists travelling towards Murree and commuters heading to the Islamabad Secretariat.

The Rs1.45 billion Kashmir Chowk underpass project is also expected to provide relief to residents of Bhara Kahu, Quaid-e-Azam University and Banigala, who often face heavy traffic during office and school hours.

The underpass is expected to improve traffic flow at the busy intersection and reduce travel delays for thousands of commuters using the route every day.
