Pezeshkian nominates Mehrdad Akhlaqi as Iran’s new defence minister

TEHRAN: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian nominated Mehrdad Akhlaqi as the country’s new defence minister, formally submitting his name to Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf in a letter, Tehran Times reported on Monday.According to Tehran Times, Akhlaqi is a senior official at Iran’s Ministry of Defence and had previously served as the chief executive of the Aerospace Industries Organisation.
