The team’s rise has come after an impressive run of results under Pitso Mosimane.

South Africa opened his return with a 2-1 victory over Guinea before producing a dominant 5-0 win over Eritrea in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

They then completed a perfect international break with a 1-0 victory over Egypt in Cairo, with Puso Dithejane scoring the decisive goal on his international debut.

That means South Afirca have won all three of their matches under Mosimane, scoring eight goals and conceding just one.

The victory over Egypt was particularly important for South Africa’s ranking points, with the result helping push the team further up the FIFA standings.
