OBJ Told Me To Get Out Of His House & I Refused; He Thought I Was There To Canvass For Tinubu -Lawal
Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has stated that some years ago he visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to convince him to support the idea of the presidency returning to southern Nigeria
In an interview with Symfoni TV, Lawal said when he told Obasanjo to support power rotation to the South, Obasanjo became angry because he thought he wanted to canvass support for Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
Lawal said he got upset because that was not the reason for his visit. He said they argued and Obasanjo told him to leave his house. He said he refused to leave, and they eventually settled their disagreement. He added that Obasanjo later began suggesting names of people from the south who they could support to be president
In Lawal’s words: “We quarreled and you know how Baba is, he can rant. He told me to get out of his house and I refused to go and eventually we settled. Then he started suggesting names which I didn’t know. He was very angry initially because he thought I was there to canvass for Bola”
