RIYADH: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye have moved to put their collective defence commitments into practice, agreeing to take the necessary measures to provide agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia amid security threats facing the Kingdom.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee (S-PDC) of the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance (MJDA) in Riyadh on Monday, with the three countries also strongly condemning the attempted targeting of the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah and continuing attacks against Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Turkiye convened the emergency meeting to address the security developments and threats facing the Kingdom.

The committee reviewed the outcomes of political and military consultations preceding the meeting and approved the recommendations submitted to it, affirming that the MJDA embodies a firm commitment to collective defence and a unified position in confronting threats.

The committee decided to move immediately to the practical implementation of the collective defence commitments and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in the Kingdom, in accordance with the approved arrangements and the national legislation of the parties.

The measures are intended to enhance readiness, military integration, and the three countries’ collective capacity to confront and counter threats.

The parties affirmed that the security of each country is an integral part of the collective security of the three countries, saying that translating the MJDA into practical measures demonstrates the credibility of their commitment to collective defence, strengthens the effectiveness of deterrence, and reaffirms the unity and determination of the three countries to defend their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the provisions of the agreement.

The parties condemned in the strongest terms the attempted targeting of Makkah and Madinah, as well as the continuing attacks targeting cities and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia.

They reaffirmed their unequivocal rejection of any attack or threat against the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity.

Pakistan and Turkiye commended the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces, as well as the professionalism and high level of competence they have demonstrated in countering the threats and attacks facing the Kingdom and safeguarding its security and territorial integrity.

During the meeting, the three countries exchanged views on the latest regional developments and expressed their resolve to work closely for regional peace and stability.

Pakistan expressed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 , Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the Emergency Meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee ( S-PDC) established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on 5 October 2026 in Riyadh today.

The meeting endorsed the nomination of Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood(Rtd), Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence .

The meeting also strongly condemned the attempted targeting of the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina, as well as continued attacks against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The three countries exchanged views on the latest regional developments and expressed their resolve to work closely for regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, Pakistan expressed its unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

As part of the institutional development of the Makkah pact, the committee decided to appoint Pakistan’s Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood (Retd), Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), as its first Secretary-General for a three-year term.

The parties welcomed Nauman Mahmood and wished him every success in the discharge of his duties, while expressing confidence in his contribution to advancing the alliance and achieving its objectives.
