IPU hails Tanzania as a model in gender equality for top leadership posts

ARUSHA: THE Chairperson of the Tanzania IPU Parliamentary Group, Damas Ndumbaro has said Tanzania is setting an example on gender equality and women’s participation in top leadership.The country is currently hosting the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Arusha.Ndumbaro said Tanzania’s progress in gender equality offers lessons to countries where women remain underrepresented in senior leadership positions and that IPU itself places strong emphasis on gender equality, noting that both its President and Secretary General are women.
