Gourt grants 2-day physical remand in fraud case involving Ministry of Communications official

ISLAMABAD  –  An Islamabad court granted two-day physical remand of an accused in a fraud case involving alleged extortion of PKR 10 million and USD 20,000 from a businessman on the pretext of supplying gold bars.

Judicial Magistrate (West) Shaista Khan Kundi granted two-days physical remand of Jahangir Khan on Saturday after the FIA sought 11 days for further investigation.

According to the FIA, Khan, along with Muhammad Nadeem, an employee of the Ministry of Communications, and Sajjad Ali, allegedly acted in connivance to obtain the money from businessman through a bank account on the promise of delivering gold bars, but allegedly defrauded him later.

The case was registered following FIA Enquiry No. 208/2025.

The FIA alleged that the accused impersonated employees of the Ministry of Communications and misused ministry offices in connection with the alleged fraud.

The FIA told the court that Khan is also arrested in another case registered at Sangjani Police Station and is currently in judicial custody. Investigators said his statement was recorded at Adiala Jail on September 28 after obtaining court permission.

The FIA sought further physical remand to confront the accused with witnesses, recover the allegedly extorted/defrauded amount and determine his role in the case.

The case was registered under sections 34, 109, 419 and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
