End Of An Era — Florence Obinim Finally Removes Husband’s Name After 22 Years Of Marriage
Ghanaian gospel musician Florence Obinim has adopted a new identity for her ministry, now presenting herself online under the name Lioness Ministries.
For more than 22 years, she has been publicly associated with the Florence Obinim name. However, her social media accounts and promotional materials now feature the Lioness Ministries brand.
The rebranding comes amid reports of difficulties in her marriage to Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder of International God’s Way Church. In September, reports emerged that Florence’s family had returned the marriage drinks, a traditional step that can signify the breakdown of a marriage.
The reports followed a viral video in which Bishop Obinim allegedly asked Florence to stop using his surname. He reportedly stated that she should no longer be called Obinim and should not attend his funeral.
Florence had earlier said in June that she was prepared to remove the surname if her husband wanted her to do so. She maintained that her spiritual calling was more important than her name and that her ministry would continue regardless of the changes.
Followers reportedly noticed the new branding on TikTok, where her account now appears as Lioness Ministries. Her ministry’s promotional videos have also adopted the new name.
Despite the change, her biography still identifies her as “Dr Florence Obinim, Musician, Preacher.”
The move has attracted different reactions from her followers. While some have offered prayers and support, others believe the rebranding signals a new chapter in her personal and ministry life.
