Drãma as Farouk and Other Leaders Rush to Help Wetang’ula After He Slips on His Way to the Podium

A tense moment was witnessed at St Peter’s Mungore ACK Church in Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County, after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula slipped while making his way to the podium.

Wetang’ula was attending a church service and fundraiser on Sunday, October 4, when the incident happened. As he moved toward the podium to address the gathering, he appeared to miss a step and suddenly lost his balance.

The unexpected moment caught the attention of those around him, with President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet quickly moving in to assist the Speaker. Other leaders and people nearby also rushed forward, helping Wetang’ula regain his footing.

The Speaker briefly appeared shaken but quickly composed himself. He straightened his glasses and clothes before continuing with the programme. He was also seen participating in the proceedings afterward, easing concerns among those who had witnessed the fall.

The incident was captured on video and has since attracted considerable attention online, with Kenyans sharing different reactions to the unexpected moment.

While some focused on the humorous side of the incident, others praised Kibet and the other leaders for reacting quickly when Wetang’ula lost his balance.

The event also brought together several political leaders from Western Kenya, making the moment particularly notable as the region continues to attract political attention ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Wetang’ula has remained active in political activities in the region, particularly in efforts supporting President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

The brief incident did not stop the Speaker from participating in the church event, as he continued with the programme after receiving assistance.

The latest footage has now become a talking point among Kenyans, with many closely watching the reactions surrounding the unusual moment.
