Doctor Khumalo’s ex-wife spotted enjoying quality time with their 22-year-old son
Nolly Blanche Garises, the former wife of Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo, recently gave followers a rare glimpse into her family life by sharing a special moment with their son, Diego Khumalo.
Garises, a Namibia native and former Air Namibia flight attendant, is known for keeping much of her personal life away from the public eye. Her latest social media post therefore attracted attention because it showed her spending time with Diego as he celebrated his 22nd birthday.
On Thursday evening, Garises shared a short video on Instagram showing her enjoying a meal with her first-born son at a restaurant. Diego was also joined by one of his close friends during the birthday celebration, making the occasion a relaxed gathering surrounded by people close to him.
Garises appeared to be enjoying the moment as she spent quality time with her son. She captioned the post simply, “Quality Time,” reflecting the personal nature of the occasion rather than turning the celebration into a major public event.
The post offered followers a rare look at the relationship between the mother and son. Garises has generally maintained a low profile when it comes to her family life, particularly compared with the public attention that has followed Doctor Khumalo throughout his football career.
Diego has also attracted interest because of his family background. He is the son of one of South Africa’s most recognisable football figures and is working towards establishing himself in the sport. The young footballer is currently developing his career under the guidance of experienced coach Farouk Khan at the Stars of Africa Academy.
Being the son of Doctor Khumalo comes with considerable expectations, given his father’s achievements with Kaizer Chiefs and the South African national team. Doctor Khumalo became one of the country’s best-known footballers and remains a respected figure in the game.
For Garises, however, the birthday gathering appeared to be less about football and more about celebrating an important moment in her son’s life. The simple family occasion showed the supportive side of their relationship and highlighted the importance of spending time together away from the attention that often surrounds famous families.
The celebration also came at an important stage in Diego’s life as he continues to work on his football ambitions. At 22, he is still building his own identity and career while carrying a surname that is already deeply connected to South African football.
Garises’ decision to share the moment gave her followers a glimpse into that family connection. Her short message, “Quality Time,” captured the mood of the celebration and showed that, despite the public interest surrounding their family, some of their most meaningful moments remain centred on family, friendship and togetherness.
