Delhi Police Bust Two Fake Job Placement Call Centres

Delhi Police have busted two suspected fake job-placement call centres operating from the same building near Shadipur Metro Station and apprehended 11 people in separate raids, officials said.

The operations were conducted by teams from the Special Staff, Ranjit Nagar Police Station and Cyber Police Station of Central District. Police said the accused allegedly targeted job seekers using personal information obtained from online recruitment and job-search platforms.

The suspects allegedly posed as recruiters and offered candidates attractive employment opportunities before demanding registration or processing fees under different packages. Police said job seekers were allegedly asked to pay amounts including Rs 3,500, Rs 1,400 and Rs 1,200.

The first raid was conducted on October 3 at Lal Ratan Building in Ranjit Nagar after police received information about a suspected fraudulent placement centre. Technical analysis and field verification allegedly indicated that a large number of recruitment-related calls were originating from the premises.

Six people — four women and two men — were apprehended during the operation. Police examined computers, calling applications and digital material allegedly used to contact prospective candidates.

Investigators said the callers would initially maintain contact with victims after collecting the registration fee, assuring them that the recruitment process was progressing. Communication was allegedly stopped after several days without the promised employment being provided.

In a separate operation, another suspected placement centre in the same building was raided by the Special Staff and Cyber Police based on specific intelligence. Five men were allegedly found working in calling cubicles and were apprehended.

Police said the operatives could not produce corporate authorisation documents, placement agreements or records showing that candidates had actually been placed in jobs. Investigators also found “Xlite” VoIP calling software, job-seeker databases and other digital material on the computers.

The 11 apprehended persons have been identified as Arpit, 38; Sakina, 29; Karishma, 27; Meenakshi, 28; Chanchal, 27; Ashok, 36; Asim, 32; Sandeep, 29; Gaurav Malik, 34; Gyan Singh, 32; and Rohit, 34.

Police seized 13 computer systems, five mobile phones, calling software, job-seeker data, contact details, communication records and digital evidence related to suspected financial transactions.

According to police, the operators allegedly sourced candidate information from online recruitment platforms, including Shine.com in one case, and used it to make targeted calls.

Further investigation is underway to identify the alleged owners and masterminds, trace the source of the job-seeker data, examine financial transactions and establish the involvement of other persons in the suspected network.

A case under Sections 319(2), 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Ranjit Nagar Police Station. The seized electronic devices and digital evidence are being examined as part of the investigation.
